Editor's Notes

Welcome!!

It's hard to believe that we're already in the midst of the holiday season. In just over a month it will all be over, so try to take a few minutes to relax and enjoy yourself, your family and your friends. Don't forget to enter this month's Celebrate Diversity movie contest to win a copy of Music of the Heart.

Do you like to fly? Most of us either love it or hate it. Since I'm the latter, I wanted to share some information and advice to make your business and holiday fly-time easier. I found Capt. Tom's information helpful, and I think you will too.

I'm delighted to announce our recent partnership with WAHMPRENEUR, a news magazine for women who work from home. In this issue, you can read the first article from Dawn Rivers Baker. I'm guessing you'll pick up a
few tips. I did.

Please feel free to email your suggestions to arichmond@career-intelligence.com. Let me know what you want to see here and I'll try to bring it to you. And, if you know anyone who'd enjoy reading The Career Intelligencer, please pass it on.

Enjoy the season,

Annette Richmond

Need to be Famous? PR on a Shoestring

PR can more effective than advertising for marketing on the Internet, but professionals are expensive. Here's how to get your name out there without spending a fortune on a publicist.

Public relations and publicity are an aspect of promoting our businesses that many of us either take for granted or wholly ignore. We assume that we need to market, to advertise, in order to get traffic and make sales. That's true, too, but don't ignore the PR. Some professionals believe that success on the Internet will come not to those who put together a brilliant advertising campaign but to those who understand and use the power of public relations. Starting this month, Dawn Rivers Baker will be available to answer your questions on career-intelligence.com. See Ask the Expert on our Home page.

Fear of Flying?

Most people either love or hate to fly. My father, for one, loves every minute on the plane. I don't. It's not so much that I'm afraid of an accident. It's just that after two hours, or so, I want to get off. (I'm a bit claustrophobic.)

Since so many of us will be flying this holiday season (for business and pleasure) we decided to bring you Capt. Tom's Top Ten Tips. Check out this practical advice from Airline pilot and licensed therapist Tom Bunn. One more thing, if you have a laptop with a DVD player, we recommend you bring some movies along. Read article
