Happy Spring! Almost. As I write this, we're bracing for the second big storm in as many weeks. It's tough to believe that Spring is only a month away. If winter weather has kept you close to home, now is a good time to begin planning some Spring networking. Nurturing existing relationships and establishing new ones is the best way to build your business, change careers or find a new job. While what you know may get you hired, chances are who you know will get you in the door. And once you get there remember that what you say is often not as important as how you say it (Interview Bloopers and How to Correct Them). Whether you're interviewing for a new position or trying to get ahead where you are make sure that you look the part (Five Wardrobe "Power" Pieces). In homage to this month's Academy Awards® I selected a movie for this issue's Spotlight: Sliding Doors starring Oscar®-winning actress Gwyneth Paltrow. While this little movie didn't win any awards, watching it is a sure way to lift your spirits the next time it seems that nothing is going your way. Finally, if you haven't set your goals for 2005 there is no time like the present (S.M.A.R.T. Goals). Look for some suggestions in our What's New section below along with career advice from our experts. And thanks for your continued support, please help us continue to grow by forwarding The Career Intelligencer to your friends and colleagues. See you next month! It's your life, make the most of it :)

If I could put together a film with bloopers that people make in interviews it might seem funny as well - but not when it happens in real life - to you! How do you avoid bloopers? First you become aware of what some of the pitfalls of interviewing are and then you prepare and practice so that it won't happen to you. Here are 10 of those very pitfalls to watch for. Read More |
