Sniffing Out Search Engines 50 Places to Promote Your Site on the WWW There's no doubt that being listed in the top search engines like Yahoo!, MSN and Lycos can increase your traffic. Significantly. But, you should be aware that there are numerous other websites where you can promote your business as well. Don't neglect listing your site on smaller, less familiar engines and directories. I'll tell you why. After a couple of submissions and a little patience, we started getting referrals from Yahoo! That's great! Still, we get two-to-three times as many referrals from www.aol.com, which is primarily powered by the Open Directory (www.dmoz.org). Now until two months ago, we'd never heard of the Open Directory, although several search engines use it as a source. And there are many, many smaller directories out there. Does it matter if a directory only sends you one or two referrals? You never know who will become your best customer or your most loyal fan. Read the article. |

Dressing for Sales? – Ask the Expert I have been going to quite a few sales calls lately and I have a few questions. Are there any types of clothes that are better than others (i.e. pants vs dress). Also, has any research been done about clothing colors? I have many clothes that are dark and I'm wondering if I need to go with some lighter colors. Thanks! Carrie Can you relate to this problem? Read what our Image expert, Sherry Maysonave has to say. |
