Thank You Letter

Be sure to send a follow-up or thank-you letter or note after your interview. (This also should be done after an Informational Interview.) Don't forget this step. This is your chance to reinforce the idea that you are a great candidate.

Here are two ways to follow-up. You decide which is appropriate for your situation.

  1. You can send a typewritten note using the same format as your cover letter. Be sure to thank the interviewer for his or her time and try to refer to something spoken about in the interview. For example, you might mention your idea for solving a company problem the two of you discussed or mention some additional experience. Say something specific about the company: friendly people, etc.
  2. Some people prefer to send a hand-written message on a blank note-card. The content will be the same as in the typewritten version.

See Cover Letters for basic format.
