- Bring extra copies of your resume and a list of references, just in case
- Dress appropriately. It's better to be over- than under-dressed for a job interview. Never wear jeans.
- Arrive early, ten to fifteen minutes in advance.
- Smile and be polite to everyone you meet. You never know who's standing next to you in the elevator.
- Be confident, not arrogant.
- Don't smoke or chew gum. Try to control nervous mannerisms like playing with jewelry.
- Maintain eye contact with the interviewer. Don't look around the room or out the window.
- Demonstrate your energy and enthusiasm about the job and the company
- Use relevant examples to sell an employer on your skills
- Answer questions completely, but don't ramble. Try to limit your answers to about a minute or two, at the most
- Have questions ready for the interviewer
- Never make negative comments about previous employers. You never know who they know.
- Be honest about your accomplishments
- Ask for the job directly. Don't just say you're interested, ask to be hired.
- Send a thank-you note within 24-hours
